SAMPLE
PROJECTS

DAS Advisers provides consulting services for indoor cellular coverage across the US. Each project is unique, which requires a team with a full understanding of current and future wireless technologies, the role of the carriers, integration, and financial management.

WORK

A SAMPLING
OF OUR

CLIENTS

DAS Advisers has provided services for clients in facilities totaling well over 350 million square feet. Our clients include hospitals, universities, corporate offices, casinos, and communities.

FTX Arena

FTX Arena, in the Entertainment District of downtown Miami, Florida, is home to the HEAT basketball team and an international venue hosting over 80 events a year.

The Arena has a fully deployed, three carrier distributed antenna system (DAS) under contract with Crown Castle. The
Arena management determined it would be beneficial to have a DAS consultant to help manage that contract and to oversee the performance of the system. DAS Advisers is providing that long-term support with incremental upgrades, audits, long-term planning, contract negotiations, and expansion of the system to improve the HEAT fan experience.

Caesars Entertainment

Caesars Forum, Las Vegas Nevada

Caesars Entertainment engaged DAS Advisers to guide them through the process of developing a state-of-the-art cellular system during the construction of the new Caesars Forum. The Forum is a 500,000 sq foot convention facility that opened in 2021. DAS Advisers selected the technology and OEM, reviewed the design, selected the integrator, and negotiated contracts with each carrier. We then managed the deployment through carrier integration. The capital required for the project and long-term maintenance was included in the contract with the carriers. Once the Forum opened, the need for coverage in the Forum’s outdoor plaza was

addressed with a second project. DAS Advisers followed the same process resulting in a high capacity 5G multi-carrier system. DAS Advisers continues to provide support for the system.

Caesars Entertainment

The Cromwell, Las Vegas, Nevada

Caesars requested that DAS Advisers assess the cellular coverage within the Cromwell and the Drai’s rooftop nightclub. DAS Advisers submitted a plan to deploy a hybrid DAS system. The project was authorized and completed during the Covid 19 lock down. DAS Advisers managed the OEM and integrator selection, all contracts, project management, oversight, and close out. The Cromwell was the first commercial project in Las Vegas to use 5G millimeter wave technology.

Yale University

New Haven, Connecticut

DAS Advisers was asked to provide a campus-wide technology plan to address the lack of cellular coverage, which include the replacement of a carrier-owned, end-of-life DAS. To gather the information needed to address the cellular issues for the overall campus, DAS Advisers  conducted campus wide RF testing of all carrier frequencies and their strength both indoor and outdoor. The testing was provided in the form of heat maps to the University and the carriers within the market. DAS Advisers subsequently met with each carrier to develop an understanding of which carrier projects were in the planning stage, what parts of the campus were the biggest challenge, and to secure cooperation in developing and implementing a coordinated long-term plan. DAS Advisers made a series of recommendations to Yale and the carriers. As a result, a DAS within the Yale Bowl and surrounding athletic complex, a consolidated campus head end, and the replacement of the existing EOL DAS are in the planning stage. DAS Advisers has been asked to manage those projects as well as work with the carriers to address outdoor coverage via macro cells or small cells.

West Virginia University

Morgantown, West Virginia

West Virginia University engaged DAS Advisers to assess its public safety, Wi-Fi, and WSP coverage needs within a 600-acre area of campus. That included the University’s 60,000-seat football stadium, additional facilities, and transportation hub.

When DAS Advisers was engaged, commercial wireless service was being provided through WSP macro facilities located both on campus and in the surrounding area.  DAS Advisers held a series of meetings with university stakeholders to articulate campus needs. That information, coupled with the review of WSP networks, was the basis of the recommended solutions. The result was the construction of a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) owned and operated by a neutral host provider or 3PO. The neutral host provider was selected through a formal RFP process. DAS Advisers prepared the technical portion of the RFP and then supported the University throughout the interview and final selection process.  DAS Advisers assisted in contract negotiations and review, construction inspection, and final deployment testing. The project resulted in a revenue-positive agreement for the University.

Columbus Regional

Airport Authority

Columbus, Ohio
FlyColumbus_1200x630.jpeg

Columbus Regional Airport Authority (CRAA) operates the Port Columbus Airport, which serves more than 6 million passengers each year. CRAA identified inadequate cellular voice and data service as a critical factor affecting passenger and visitor satisfaction. CRAA also identified the need for improved connectivity as vitally important to the Authority’s day-to-day Public Safety and management functions. Our work included drafting a Request for Proposal for distribution to WSPs, reviewing responses to that solicitation, interviewing candidates, negotiating the business terms of a final contract with the selected vendor, and providing oversight support during installation and system commissioning. With the support of DAS Advisers, a final contract was reached between CRAA and Verizon Wireless.

University of Miami and University of Miami Hospital

The University engaged DAS Advisers to provide consulting services.

DAS Advisers conducted site and contract reviews of seven existing WSP facilities, performed radio frequency baseline testing on campus, and held stakeholder meetings to determine and prioritize the University’s goals. DAS Advisers identified a portion of the campus that required improved service, including a 150,000-square foot, LEED-certified student activity center, then under construction. That process led DAS Advisers and the University to identify cellular voice and data deficiencies within University of Miami Hospital complex, located approximately 6 miles from the main campus. The Hospital complex involves 35 buildings and approximately 8.5 million square feet of indoor space. Although the two sites were comparable in terms of their needs for improved cellular voice and data service, DAS Advisers identified important differences between the two campuses that necessitated different solutions. The University agreed with our findings and authorized DAS Advisers to write a single RFP that would treat the two campuses as separate projects. DAS Advisers supported the University throughout the RFP, interview, and final selection process. DAS Advisers was asked to provide technical oversight during the deployment of a Neutral Host DAS within the University of Miami Hospital. The system was successfully commissioned in

June 2015.

United Regional Health
Care System

Wichita Falls, Texas

United Regional Health Care System is the primary health care facility in North Central Texas. The hospital’s main campus is in a mixed-use area of Wichita Falls. United Regional’s physicians and staff expressed concern about cellular coverage in several areas of the main campus. The hospital’s Information Services and Telecommunications leadership engaged DAS Advisers to review the hospital’s existing wireless environment, both cellular and Wi-Fi, and to provide recommendations for solutions. DAS Advisers reviewed the wireless infrastructure, which includes an aging repeater-fed DAS, and conducted its standard assessment of the hospital’s needs, radio frequencies, and macro cellular environments.

Based on its assessments, DAS Advisers determined that United Regional would be best served by continuing to operate separate Wi-Fi and DAS networks. Relieving the increasing pressures
on the hospital’s Wi-Fi network being the priority, DAS Advisers worked with United Regional’s leadership through the completion of a property-wide Wi-Fi refresh. With the Wi-Fi project nearing completion, DAS Advisers focused on engaging WSPs in solutions for enhanced cellular voice and data service, including the potential for cost sharing. As a result, Verizon located a macro cell on the hospital roof and built a DAS within the hospital that would serve the three carriers in the market.

First CBRS Neutral Host DAS

Although DAS Advisers is under an NDA for this project, we can share that DAS Advisers is a party to a proof-of-concept CBRS deployment in conjunction with one of its clients. It was the first in the US to host two commercial carriers while providing Wi-Fi backhaul and private network applications. DAS Advisers selected the OEM, coordinated the installation, and worked with the carriers to establish a POC agreement.
